Rubber Gloves at Calvin Klein

Did you ever imagine the kitchen sink and the catwalk could come together so beautifully? Or indeed, come together at all.

Calvin Kleinhave just released a pair of pink over-the-elbow rubber gloves that look just like that pair of Marigolds we all have shoved under the kitchen sink to do the dishes.

And whilst you wouldn’t bat eyelid about paying 99p for a pair of Marigolds, Calvin Klein’s couture gloves, at a staggering £300 per pair, might make you contemplate a bit longer.

The domestic-themed accessories first made their debut on the catwalk during the brand’s Spring/Summer 2018show at New York Fashion Weekand have since made their way into stores.

They are the ‘creative idea’ of Raf Simons, a Belgian designer who is currently the chief creative officer at Calvin Klein. And believe it or not, the ‘rose pink’ rubber gloves are made with 100 per cent (bog standard) synthetic rubber. No fancy alternative.

Raf acknowledges that not all of his pieces are wearable for the masses and said: ‘Fashion keeps thinking that it can serve everybody, that it can be there for everybody, high fashion.

I think he means that we won’t all be insane enough to wear rubber gloves out in public. But some of us will. Hate to admit it, but I definitely would.
