Yes, if the latest Gen Z fashion hits are anything to go by, dressing your age is officially out. This autumn, the coolest wardrobes look suspiciously like they’ve been borrowed from someone several decades older.
There was a time when fashion’s ultimate insult was telling someone they dressed like their grandmother. In 2026, it might just be the highest compliment available. Look around and the evidence is everywhere. Twenty-somethings are tying SILK HEAD SCARVES over their chins, wearing ORTHOPEDIC SANDALS and MID-CALF skirt lengths, which could feasibly have been discovered at the back of a glamorous great-aunt’s wardrobe.
My opinion? I’d sooner dress like a twenty-something personally… and get away with it (tenuously) for as long as I can.
