Gucci X Adidas

Do you think it’s possible for Gucci to ever out-hype itself? Judging by the label’s recent show during Milan Fashion Week, the answer is a resounding no.

Firstly, came the arrival of a heavily pregnant Rihanna with A$AP Rocky, both of whom were decked in Gucci’s finest, naturally. Then, during the show itself, fashion’s most exciting collaboration was revealed.  Adidas x Gucci.

AND I LOVE EVERY SINGLE PIECE.

It’s the best collection I have ever seen from Gucci. Building on the success of their last collaboration with The North Face (as well as that Balenciaga range you’ll have seen all over Instagram), Gucci unveiled a partnership with Adidas Originals. I am in love.

This AW22 collection featured a mash-up of Adidas and Gucci’s signatures, both in terms of aesthetics and also in the form of iconic prints, which were a mix of both labels’ logos. The adidas x Gucci logo adorned the waist belt of a long white Victoriana-style dress, complete with the famous three stripes of Adidas.  While red track pants were paired with a tailored version of a sports jacket, boasting logo-stamped gold buttons.

Without doubt, the most popular pieces will be (and already are) the trainers and accessories. Gucci has put its own spin on the Adidas Gazelle, for example, incorporating the house’s signature colours (red and green) as well as the new collab logo.

My friend Jo Marchetti had a super proud moment when her son – Mason Marchetti – modelled the collection on the catwalk in Milan last week.

Prices start at £170 – which will no doubt be for a small item like a vest or socks – but I’m determined to get something from the collection this summer.

Adidas’ Gazelle trainers get Gucci’s seal of approval.

I want it all….
