Emily In Paris Fashion by Chanelle

My guest features Editor Chanelle Clark Bruccoleri is back with her first fashion piece of 2023, fresh from her flash new pad in the UAE. And it’s all about our favourite Netflix Fashion flick of 2022/3 – Emily in Paris. Over to you Chanelle…

Emily in Paris is a show renowned for its fashion, and Season 3 certainly didn’t disappoint. High End all the way, with stylist Marilyn Fitoussi remaining very on point. She didn’t opt for typical designer power house brands, but rather revived old ones such as Schiaparelli and “in the know” French labels such as Beaulieu. Also featured were under-the-radar brands that only die hard aficionados would know. Suffice to say, Emily In Paris truly is a real education in fashion.

I remain unconvinced by the experimental men’s looks this season, best exemplified by most of Archie’s out-of-office attire. However, the classical, understated Gaellic look as worn by Gabriel and  Antoine never fails to impress. Sometimes less really is more (although not when it comes to Emily’s ensembles, of course).

All of the show’s females come into their own, with some bold stand out looks. Chemmy in Jaquemas & Balmain and Sylvie always powerful and chicly dressed in Phillipe Leroy Beaulieu. Her Cape and shoulder game being particularly strong.

However, let’s focus on Emily herself. Just outstanding with inspirational looks permanently on view.  Previously, she has channeled voluminous, ruffles, yet this time round it was further elevated. Her outfit by Giuseppe di Morabito for the perfume launch in Provence is a prime exemplar of this.

Also, the feather trimmed coat made especially for her to match the dress from Polish designer Magda Butrym.

This quirky beauty inspired me so much with her eceletic outfits I am awaiting a silver leather mini to recreate one of her looks with a bright piece of knitwear and some snakeskin boots. Hers was 1,500 dollars from Dundas, mine is by Alexa Chung and is a steal at Yoox at the moment, 465 to 146 euros so grab one if you can, although there are plenty of dupes available on the high street.

Her accessories merit a whole article in themselves. They were sublime, and it took an eagle eye to spot where many of them were sourced from. The attention to detail by the stylist really was another level. I could only liken Fitoussi’s brilliance to the legendary Patricia Field. I spotted vintage Westwood, Polene bags, Vever rings amongst oh so many others. Renowned footwear designer Malone Souliers was so taken by the style and humour in the show she designed a capsule collection of 11 pairs of shoes named after its characters, which are on sale now.

Perhaps no look charmed me so much as her in frothy Giambassti Vialli in the promotional shots.  Every woman’s dream frock surely?!  In fact you may have seen our as ever fashion forward editor bought something very similar from Anthropologie at the weekend.

Suffice to say I am suitably impressed if not blown away by the style fest Season 3 offered.  Now left on a cliffhanger and wanting more of a fashion fix, roll on season 4.
Love & Light,
Chanelle
