… a word from Amanda and Rihanna’s Pregnancy Style

Welcome to this week’s instalment of Amanda Zips It Up.

There’s so much anxiety out there, with the pandemic, war and human misery right now, So, I want to take you away from it all for five minutes with some fabulous fashion.

Let’s start with Rihanna and her incredible maternity style. What’s not to love here?

Ever since announcing her pregnancy with the most fabulous paparazzi photographs, Rihanna’s maternity wardrobe has gone from strength to strength.

Even though she’s heavily pregnant, Rihanna attended all the recent fashion shows with her boyfriend and father-to-be A$AP Rocky.

At the Dior show, she did the “naked dress”, arriving in a DIOR black see through baby doll slip, with her wipe-clean coat and vinyl knee-highs. Revealing the full beauty of her bump.

At the OFF WHITE show, where supermodels past and present paid tribute to recently deceased creator Virgil Abloh, Rihanna took her seat on the front row, wearing a latex dress the colour of a peach from Off-White, a shearling coat and a trio of necklaces that stretched from her neck to the bottom of her bump.

In Milan meanwhile, she was on the FROW at GUCCI wearing another outfit that well and truly rejected the notion that pregnancy means you should or shouldn’t wear certain things. If you’re Rihanna – or anyone for that matter – you can wear a latex-and-lace crop top with silky sweatpants and a chainmail-style headpiece.

Let’s rewind back to the beginning of the pregnancy. Rihanna, wearing a long pink coat from Chanel’s autumn/winter 1996 collection, unbuttoned so that her bump was on show and draped in jewels. The coat, designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, is a rare piece – one just sold for a whopping £16,728.

Before the announcement, Rihanna wore an oversized Celine puffer jacket, which she styled with joggers and a hoodie from AWAKE with a trusty pair of Vans, designed in collaboration with A$AP Rocky.

Then there was her Date Night outfit.  Rihanna teamed a Martine Rose tracksuit top with a Saint Laurent mini skirt (trimmed with faux fur) and a Prada scarf.

This is how you do maternity wear. How long before she’s offering her own range?
