… a word from Amanda

It’s July already… we are powering through 2022. But cast your minds back to lockdown, when women were forgoing bras in the name of comfort, with many vowing never to go back to constraining underwear when restrictions lifted.  Yes, leaving lingerie behind in the name of comfort became a trend, with women taking to social media vowing never to go back to their ‘restrictive boob prisons again’.

So, it’s no wonder that celebrities have followed suit by championing the latest summer braless trend. A host of stars have been snapped, both glammed up for the red carpet and when casually dressed, baring their chests. And these daring celebs often pair their braless looks with plunging necklines or transparent fabric.

But who wore the look best…

Actor Joy Corrigan enthusiastically embraced the braless look when she attended the LA premiere of The Black Phone this month.

Meanwhile Dua Lipa opted to bare her chest in this casual ensemble, as she was spotted wearing this low neck dress in Berlin recently.

Kristen Stewart went for a fashion-forward braless look, when she went nude under a classic Chanel blazer at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Attending the Tribeca Film Festival in New York earlier this month, singer Lily Allen donned a lace black top, while going braless.

Rita Ora is another celebrity who has embraced the bra-free trend, wearing this plunging semi-sheer lace-up top in a photo she posted to Instagram in May.

Enjoying the sun in London this month, Myleene Klass went braless underneath her vibrant orange sundress.

Lady Victoria Hervey walked the red carpet in a daring bronze gown during the Cannes Film Festival in May. I’m not loving this look tough, it has to be said.

Actor Jodie Comer showed how elegant the braless look can be, daring to bare, while wearing a blazer-style dress at the British Academy Television Awards in May.

But what about Women who feel too exposed and prefer to play peekaboo with their bra and knickers instead – is this tacky? After all – it’s underwear, not outerwear but I’m liking this new trend of exposing a bra under a suit jacket or blazer.

The question is this. Should Women in their 40s, 50s and 60s act their age — not their bra size? You tell me…
